MainEventTravel stalwart Mad Harper braves Battle of Malta SOBER to raise money for MacMillan

By Matthew Summers

For those who know, Mad Harper is our long-term MainEventTravel content writer.

This month Mad is taking part in MacMillan’s annual Go Sober for October fund-raising campaign.

This is a cinch when she’s back home in Brighton, carefully avoiding bars, parties and any kind of fun while sipping tea at home – and occasionally splashing out on a bottle of Ginger Beer if lured into a den of iniquity (aka pub).

But then we brought Mad out to Battle of Malta, a phenomenal tournament in the Mediterranean where the beer is flowing 24/7 and the party atmosphere is one of the best in the world. Main Event Travel is Casino Malta’s event partner for Battle of Malta and the tournament venue is located right in the middle of Paceville, Malta’s hottest nightspot. Almost every other building is a bar, pub or club. Added to that, we’ve given Mad a VIP pass for the Casino Malta bar and invited her to dozens of Battle of Malta parties to make it even harder.

Despite these incredible temptations, Mad has decided to plough on with her campaign and, while others quaff Grey Goose, Aperol Spritz and pints of lager all round her, Mad is clinging to her cups of tea and occasional ginger beer.

This year’s Battle of Malta is already totally smashing records – thousands of players are taking part, hundreds have already cashed and are celebrating in – well – the normal way.

We applaud Mad’s efforts and encourage everyone to make her sacrifice worthwhile. Please give generously and raise a toast of anything you like in her honour. Just click this link to donate! https://www.gosober.org.uk/users/madeleine-harper. Thank you!
